Posterior capsular rupture (PCR) is a common and serious complication of cataract surgery. It complicates the process inserting posterior chamber intraocular lens affects visual outcome. This study review on acuity patients that had PCR during surgery in Hospital Melaka, risk factors PCR, cause poor The record all from 1 January 2014 till 31 March 2017 was traced using National Eye Database (NED) patients’ folders were reviewed retrospectively. Data collected demographic data, type surgery, status surgeon, underlying ocular diseases, risks for postoperative acuity, There 238 eyes 126 (53%) female 112 (47%) male patients. mean age 66.62 years old, ranging 9 to 87 old. Major identified hard cataract, polar uncooperative patients, extended continuous capsulorhexis, subluxated lens, myopia, vitrectomised eyes, pupil dilatation. From 153 cases no pre-existing 119 (78%) normal vision (best corrected – BCVA) two months after 10 (7%) moderate impairment, four (2%) severe impairment. Causes BCVA poorer than 6/18 high astigmatism, CMO, prolonged inflammation. Cataract even complicated by compatible with good outcome if complications are managed promptly.
